Madness, I tell you!

So, life has been crazy busy lately with sports, school, college, and now trying to get my volunteer hours up so I can qualify for bright futures scholarship.......
My cheer team has its last competition tomorrow, and after that is tryouts and summer practices and stuff which will be fun. I can't wait to actually change my tumbling for the better! It has been stuck in such a rut lately! My flag football mini-season ended last week, and I'm really sad we won't have a team next year :/ I enjoyed playing this sport more than just about anything I have ever done before!
Ethan is in the middle of soccer season. Soccer is like his favorite sport and he's pretty good at it, although I haven't been able to make it to many games this year. He's signed up for pop warner football in the fall which should be adorable!
Emma has started diving recently. She's signed up for a ten-week class. She couldn't make it the first week, but on her first day (the second week), she got invited by the coach to join their advanced program which practices several days a week. She plans on doing this as soon as her class ends. I'm so happy for her (:
Monique has a broken finger that she is dealing with, and she was also too young to play flag football this year so she is not participating in a sport right now.
Other than sports, I've reached the point where I can't just ignore the fact that college is coming up soon, and I have to start planning for it. The main thing is qualifying for the Bright Futures scholarship. Since I have the grades and SAT score needed to qualify for the second highest level (I will make it to the first by the next time I take the SAT/ACT!!!!), all that's left is to get my volunteer hours. Since they say it's smartest to get your hours in something related to what you want to do with your career, I am looking into coaching at my old gymnastics gym. So yea, that's about it right now! life is happening (:

So, basketball season is coming to an end, and cheerleading season is beginning. My basketball has a tournament this week, and that's it. Our last practice was last Friday. For me, having always done year-round sports (well, basically just gymnastics), this is a weird thing for me to be actually leaving a sport, knowing it will start up again next year. It's odd to see my teammates ready for the season to end, too, but now I get to enjoy flag football next season, and focus on my cheer team between sports.
My basketball season was a ton of fun, but it's definitely hard splitting time between two sports, and I regret having to miss so many games because of cheer practices. Because of scheduling conflicts, my lack of experience, and bad injuries to both my toe and my hand, I only got to play in five games this season, not counting the upcoming tournament. But I loved doing what I could and next year will definitely be different!

Cheer is intense as always. My team has won both of our first competitions and I'm enjoying being on an undefeated team that is full of girls who are totally committed to the sport and have amazing work ethic. It feels good to work so hard that some days I can barely walk after practice and to watch it pay off as we win first place. Also, to be participating as an important member of the team (versus the last time I did cheer when I was out for six months with a back injury and put in only for filling space pretty much as we were very careful with the recovery process) feels great!

My siblings are all enjoying basketball as well. Monique's season also ends after her tournament this week, but Emma and Ethan are just starting. They've had three games each already, and both are pretty good. Ethan is almost always the high scorer of his team, and Emma does really well, too. It's kind of funny to watch them play because they have opposite problems on offense. Ethan tends to try to score "three pointers" (behind the foul line), and will shoot from very far back which, while a bit frustrating, works out fine for him because he has a very consistant shot, and Emma tends to always drive until she is so far underneath the basket that she cannot realistically put a shot up.

Besides sports, the main thing going on right now is a new direction to our youtube channel, which is understandable because none of us do gymnastics anymore, which was its main purpose, and we will be gravitating towards making videos that will teach others of Christ's love and will incorporate dance gymnastics, music, and short skits. We will begin working on this as soon as we have a few minutes to spare in our crazy lives. Anyways, that's about it. I will try to post some time later this week (:

Basketball:)

So Monique and I started basketball this week. We both played one season when we were a lot younger, and neither of us were very good. I was so shy that I was happy when I got to sit out two rotations  in a row, and when I hurt my knee and could only play half of the last game that became my favorite game of the year. Monique spent a lot of time walking, not running, across the court behind the big group and tucking her hair behind her ears. So with that as our history, neither of us every imagined we would be doing basketball for our school team, but here we are.
This week was a clinic for all the middle and high school girls. It started off pretty embarassingly for me, and probably Monique too, as we have virtually no experience, but by the last day, I think I only embarassed myself a minimal amount because I definitely improved over the week. I don't know if I will end up playing in the games very much, but it should be fun anyway! It's so different for everything else I've done :)

Change is in the Air!

Kelsey:
A lot has been happening since I last posted on here. Our name (acrogurls) is pretty much not relevant anymore as the three of us no longer are an acro trio. It was a very big time commitment and very stressful, and this year when we began attending a school with a more normal schedule there was no way it was going to work. But we did have a wonderful season and went farther than we ever could have dreamed for being in the sport only one year. We began the season in level five, in which we were undefeated, and then moved up to compete level six halfway through the year. We won all of our level six competitions through state, placed second at regionals, and third at nationals. After the season we would have begun training level eight (we already had most of the required skills), but we decided it was time to leave the sport of acrobatic gymnastics.
(our second and only day working together, before we started up again this year and began competing!)
More surprisingly, the three of us have also left artistic gymnastics. The time commitment was the main factor for Emma and Monique, who wanted time to hang out with friends, and to not be kept up late at night with homework. This was a major factor for me as well, but I also felt like I had pretty much topped out in Gymnastics. We all still love the sport a ton, but it was time for us all to move on and try new things.

I have gotten involved with cheerleading, which I have done in the past, but only one year and I was injured for six months of that year. It feels great to be back doing cheer, and it also feel great to be actually contributing to my team this year, instead of being the gimpy girl in the back (lol). The timing of leaving gymnastics and acro worked out perfectly so I did not have much time between gymnastics and cheerleading tryouts. I have been placed on the level four senior team at the gym I am attending, and I'm loving it. I'm still not an amazing cheerleader because I have very little experience, but I feel as thought I'm improving every day and have a lot to offer for my team, which is a lot better than I felt last time around! With cheerleading, unlike gymnastics, I feel as though I still have places I can go and that I have not yet reached my limits. I am very excited for this season and these next couple years of cheerleading ahead of me.
Not related to anything I have done in the past, my new school has a basketball team, and despite my shortness and general lack of basketball skill, my mom managed to talk me into trying it out. Since my school is small I'm guaranteed to make the team, so this could be an interesting season. I think it will be a lot of fun to try something so different from gymnastics for a change.
Monique has been looking into doing some dancing now that she is no longer in gymnastics. She has attended hip-hop, jazz, and acro trial classes, but our cat ate a lot of the outfits she bought for dance, so I don't think she  has gone back yet, but it's definitely a fun new thing for her to do!
My mom got ahold of Monique, along with her PE teacher, and both have convinced her to try for the Middle School basketball team. I don't think she's completely convinced that it's something she want to do yet, but she has agreed to attend the clinic and check it out.
Emma is currently between sports right now. I think she's enjoying the socializing time it's giving her, and she's also enjoying relaxing and having fun after school rather than coming home, changing, and heading back out for practice. I'm trying to convince her to do cheerleading with me, or join the hip-hop dance team at the gym that I cheer at, which she seem interested in, but not motivated enough to do it. Maybe by try-outs next year I'll have her convinced!

Our brother Ethan, who appears in many videos on our channel, is still involved with soccer, which he loves, and will probably play basketball this year for the second time. I have seriously no idea how our family turned from a gymnastics family to a basketball one in such a short time, but it did and I'm loving the change! It's so different from everything I'm used to!

(Ethan scoring a goal two seasons ago!)
As for our youtube channel (acrogurls2463), it will remain up. I still have a few gymnastics meets as well as many acro meet videos to upload. That will probably take up a few months, and after that I will continue to upload videos, but they will be different, featuring cheerleading skills, us trampolining in our backyard, dancing, and stuff like that. We will probably also start uploading more gymnastics/cheerleading tutorials as well! I'm having problems with my camera and video maker, so it will probably be awhile before I begin making and uploading these new videos, but the meet stuff will probably be up soon!

Sorry for the length, but thanks for reading!

How not to do a One-Man Stunt

New video up. Just Emma and me playing around. Neither of us have ever "officially" worked these stunts and we realized the normal way of doing them would be impossible for us, so we made a new way of getting into stunt. Well, I'm not sure if it's a completely original idea or not, but I don't think i've ever seen it before. After a lot of falls, we finally made on, but of course the camera was not on. So we fell a lot more until we finally made one again. Hope you enjoy, and don't worry, I caught her every time :) --Kelsey

Acrogurls

Kelsey:
Monique, Emma and I were recently featured on the local news because we are the first sports acro team in our area and we won first at our most recent, and first, competition. It was a lot of fun to have a camera man come to our practice and then interview us afterwards. It was also fun to watch ourselves on TV. They messed up a lot of the facts, especially on the second airing but honestly I don't think it's such a big deal.
Also, our artistic season has ended and we are preparing for a new season. Emma has been moved to level 5, Monique will stay in level 6, and I have been moved to level 7. We are working hard on getting our new skills and becoming the best gymnasts we can be. This coming season should be a great one :)

The last thing I want to share with you guys is that our grandparents will be visiting soon. I know that's kind of random, but they always bring cameras to our practices and take really good quality pictures and videos for us. They also have a great editing system that I can use to make really good videos so expect some new videos coming up. Also, our acro meet video should be ready soon, but I am waiting on their editing system since my dad didn't record it on my flip video so editing is hard.

That's it
Peace!
